  • 60 Million Year Old Ammonite I know what you’re thinking…our Ammonite doesn’t look a day over 50 million years old! We are thrilled to offer one of the most quintessential specimens in the fossil category. Ammonite, AKA Ammonoids existed WAY before dinosaurs roamed the earth (try 60 millions years ago, give or take). Who knew a prehistoric squid can be so sexy? As if that’s not cool enough, scientists use ammonite as a way to link specific geologic time periods. To us, Ammonite is one of the most romantic specimens for its history and scientific contributions. You are literally holding eons of time in your hand! It’s also aesthetically pleasing with it’s signature spiral pattern which is believed to convert negative energy flow into positive energy flow. Ammonite is said to stimulate the flow of chi energy into the body and support with childbirth and the process of childbirth along with labor pains Read more about Ammonite in our Rox Library What’s included? • Cave Calcite Cave Calcite is also known as ‘floss ferri’ (flowers of iron) or frostwork (think of the attractive pattern that frost can make on a window or other surfaces). The crystals that form in the precipitation of ground water and the cave surfaces are often delicately beautiful yet striking. They can form tree, coral, or worm-like patterns that are most unique. Our Cave Calcite will make an outstanding display piece for your home or office! Similar to how they are formed in nature (rising from the floor of a cave), Cave Calcite is said to be an active crystal that speeds up development and growth physically, mentally and spiritually. • Purple Flourite So many details and textures to take in on this gemmy purple fluorite. This specimen is a rare find from the Berbes Mine in Spain which stopped production many years ago. The distinctive well-formed fluorite crystals are mixed with delicate golden barite “blades”. We love its complex composition with shades of violet to periwinkle clusters. The fluorite crystals have defined internal geometric phantoms, displaying outlines of numerous smaller crystals. Fluorite is also known as “the most colorful mineral in the world” due to the wide range of color variations. Berbes is a mining area in the province of Ribadesella, Asturias, which is in the northern coast of Spain. The Berbes Mine is famous for its violet and blue-purple fluorite cubic crystals, and associations with other minerals such as quartz and barite. Specimens from this area of Spain are coveted by collectors and mineral enthusiasts. Since the 1930s the area has been mined by competing entrepreneurs and companies. Due to the physical condition of the mine and lack of financing over the decades, there are fewer and fewer quality specimens. Due to its scarcity along with its distinctive composition and color, Purple Fluorite from the Berbes Mine is coveted by collectors and mineral enthusiasts alike. • Sky Blue Celestite Remember enjoying the sugary goodness of a rock candy as a kid? Well, this is what the crystal matrix reminds us of in our Celestite specimen. Named for its “celestial,” sky-blue color, Celestite can display pyramidal or tabular nodules of gossamer crystals. In addition to its divine connotations, did you know that Celestite contains the element, strontium? Strontium is used to create red-colored fireworks. While we don’t recommend making your own firework at home, this Celestite would add “sparkle” into any living space! Associated with celestial beings, Celestite is strongly connected to divine energy and cosmic supernatural forces. Celestite is thought to encourage inner peace, friendship and love. • Velveteen Malachite Our Velveteen Malachite has a striking emerald green color with beautiful CHATOYANCY. What is chatoyancy you ask (sha-toy-en-see)? Chatoyancy is a phenomenon in gemology, also known as cat’s eye effect, an optical reflectance effect seen in certain gemstones and minerals. Light reflecting off of the intricate clusters of radiating malachite crystals creates a holographic effect. This visual phenomenon can be compared to the brilliant sheen reflecting off the fibers of velvet. Hence why we call our Fibrous Malachite, “Velveteen Malachite”…it is so lustrous and silky smooth! This rich and lustrous specimen is sourced directly from the Rusahi Mine from the Katanga Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Fibrous Malachite has been declining in supplies after a reassurance of materials in 2010. This mineral will surely become a collector’s item and add a special pop of color to your living space! Malachite is known as the stone of transformation. It encourages unconditional love, change, and risk-taking. Gift this to a loved one who might be going through a difficult time.
